Labor Day Shopping

Monday we took the day off and did a little Labor Day shopping. Our first stop was a reclaimed lumber company. What a cool place and super nice owners. We left with an empty trailer but gained lots of ideas, knowledge, and information for later and will most likely be back with the trailer again soon. We will have a more definite plan of what we need next trip.
While having lunch, the owner called Jason and invited us to check out his house. We were amazed and inspired.
Here are a few shots to give you an idea. It was very neat-o!
On the way back home, we stopped to check out a few old barns. Some of our relatives recently purchased this land to build a home. Mom talked to the new owner's at our family reunion this weekend and they gave us permission to come check them out. We found a few things we think we might could use. We plan to talk with them to work out details. They mentioned using some of the materials themselves and keeping others, so we will just have to see.
Our last stop was by my aunt and uncle's old barn behind their house. My grandparents offered a stack of old tin they have stored here. We are thinking about using it to soffet the balcony ceiling. We originally were talking about cedar, but cedar will cost quite a bit more (than free!) and will also require more maintenance. Jason sprayed a huge Yellow Jacket nest, so that will be one less obstacle when we come back. I am really excited about this idea and hope it works out.
