Are We There Yet?

Before I get to the action shots and fun, I thought I'd kind of give you the type anticipation you get on the way to your vacation destination...since I'm sure you are so excited to go on a blogcation with us. Well, mom probably is... After miles and miles of this type scenery,
We finally saw some of this kind of scenery.
And boy did excitement fill the truck (which is much cheaper than gas by the way) when we started to see snow in the distance!
Taking in all of God's majestic art work.
It was warmer than I thought it would be on our way in, but certain areas were still frozen.
Everything was beautiful And the last night/morning a big snow hit the area.
Snow was piled up in the middle of the roads on the way out.
It was a magical winter wonderland.
Until the lovely dream turned into a frightful nightmare when we made it to Texas roads. It all runs together a little now, but a little after Amarillo until Hillsboro, the roads were treacherous. We lost count of how many vehicles were stuck on the side of the road from sliding off. We were shocked when we saw 18 wheeler trailers mangled and broken in several pieces. We made the best of the situation and got some interesting video footage. Our average speed was 30 mph. You do the math. It was a long, intense drive back home. But enough about the end of the trip (which the end is always sad anyways...), now that is out of the way, the next posts should have a happier tune and a better reflection of how our trip actually went :)
