Stair Staring

Wednesday, the guys did a lot of stair staring.
In the meantime, the gals cleaned off the balcony. It was kind of fun tossing the floor scraps in the bucket and we only hit Mr. Welder's freshly painted tractor a few times ;)
We kept cleaning and the guys made a plan and got to work. Surprisingly, it worked out where we did not have a ton of leftover flooring upstairs. After tossing the scraps, we hauled down the longer pieces since they will either be used for future trimming or put up for sale.
Mom was able to do her favorite part of sweeping finally.
The guys added this piece of trim at the top of the landing to finish it off.
And then dad cut pieces, I was the holder upper, and Mr. Welder nailed flooring boards along the unfinished, skinny piece of floor.
I am lacking a "this is how it looked at the end of the night" shot but you can kind of see it here (to the right.) We stopped here because we need to purchase more trim before proceeding. Dad caulked around this beam where the sheetrock meets.
Mr. Welder worked on sawing the bottoms of the door jambs to allow the flooring to slip underneath when we get to that point. First he used his joiner.
And then his new hand saw to finish it off.
Dad also caulked around the duct work in the gym. I believe this adds a task to the Welding Wife's list. Paint caulk.
I decided I would try out the new saw.
Normally, Mr. Welder makes things look more fun than they actually are but was surprised when I had a successful result. Now if that fact doesn't make you want to buy one of these, I don't know what will. Mr. Welder was a bully and took over, but it was almost as fun as sawing that wood with that bicycle :)
