Staring, Soaking, Spraying, Solving & Snaking

On a daily basis, Jason stares at the surface cracks on our slab. He worries about them so much! I know we want a good stable slab but I think the cracks are charming :) Plus there is really nothing you can do about it, so you might as well like them, right? He did buy soaker hoses to line around the perimeter, which is known to help, especially during the dry summer months. Maybe he will get some sleep at night now!
Next, we sprayed the front door with a new spray paint. It has a sand-like material in the paint that gives it a textured look. Jason used the entire can just on the top arched part! The texture covers quickly but to cover it with color, it takes a ton! We only had one can, so we plan to go spray paint shopping today. Jason thinks he has an idea of how to achieve the texture and color we want...I am anxious to get this door finished. Plus we have to have the painting done by rock time. (Jason ordered the white rock today!)

Back to our favorite corner. I thought he was finished solving this problem Monday, but I guess I was just making that up.
Now it is ready for rock. Tonight he will finish the corner like this on the back of the house. He got started, but it got too dark too fast last night...and we had a minor distraction.
Daisy has been hanging out close to us, normally snoozing in the house or spying on the pigeons who rent the front peak of the house. She used to hunt before her snake incident. I wondered if it was because of the snake attack or because it is too hot now. Last night, I looked across the yard and saw her playing. She jumped back away from something. I told Jason and we went to look...and there it was dun dun dun...a Copperhead! We got Daisy away (guess she did not learn her lesson!) and then I went to get the hoe while Jason kept his eye on the predator. Jason went after it like a wild, crazy man and chopped it into a few pieces.
We finally found the head...you can see it to the right of the shorter piece. Gross!
