The Boat Shed

Sunday, the lock set was put back in place.
And the guys got back to work upstairs. Dad cut boards for attaching.
While Jason installed the insulation.
I am weird and really liked how this wall looked as-is. I thought the stud boards and back of the A-frame wood added a lot of character and the paint coincidentally complemented the sheetrock wall that is painted Baked Pumpernickel. There were small gaps between the boards and this was not ideal for keeping the second floor separate from the first for heating and cooling purposes, so covered up with insulation was the best choice. Not to mention the section of wall that was spray foamed (to the left), which was not so cute.
Dad completed more electrical work. Plugs in the game room. And lights in the gym closets and stair closet.
Jason kept on insulating.
I vacuumed the master bedroom to prepare a dust free place to begin working on the kitchen cabinets!
I took off all the upper cabinet doors and numbered them to hopefully avoid confusion later.
And then got started.
The guys added the attachment boards.
And then started putting up tin.
I hired a handy helper who first constructed a table which made things so much easier on my hiney. She vacuumed each door and then applied the pre-stain conditioner to prepare for staining by me. We really got some things accomplished with our teamwork.
The guys teamwork proved a success as well.
Jason was polishing the tin in no time.
The front and sides of all the top cabinet doors were stained by the end of the day.
As well as all the bottom cabinet doors.
And a few of the drawers. Thanks mom for all of your help. Having a teammate definitely helps this huge project seem like a piece of cake.
And here is a shot of the finished game room wall. Jason informed me that this room will be called The Boat Shed. This week we will be planning the covering for the final game room wall (the one that has the door to the balcony) and the covering for the shack you can see to the right in the picture above. A visit to the lumber yard will be made. My goal is to use up as many of the Copper family mansions as possible.
