We're Officially Smart
Tuesday The Weld House's smart meter was installed. Seems like they could have saved a step and done this the same day we get rid of this temporary pole (we have already contacted the power company to do this). We looked into moving the pole you can see in the background since it is not in the ideal location for drivers like me, but it was going to cost more than our kitchen cabinets, so we decided I could just be careful. Dad installed the electrical box door that fits. Well, kind of. This one did not have the right amount of breaker slots, but it did fit so it will do. Strange.
Where did Jason go? The rest of the evening was devoted to figuring out how to build the door frames. It is like most of our projects, the first one takes the longest and by the last one you have it down.
The cedar boards we had milled are a tad thicker than a normal (whatever that is) board that was used in figuring the door openings. We were going to plane the cedar boards for a smooth finish anyways, but will run them through a few more times to make them the thickness that will work with the openings that area already in place. We definitely put all of our tools to use! The cedar has started to dry to it's brown color, but after we planed off the dry outer layer it is back to its pinkish red! Not really part of our color scheme. So pray for my patience (NOW!) to wait for the boards to dry before hurrying to cover them with dark brown stain to get rid of the pink ASAP. We may still end up staining, but we've seen this wood unfinished before (actually have some in the house we live in now) and really like it. I need to learn to let things go (like pink door jambs) and let them do their thing in their own time. I think it will be worth the wait.
