Safety Second

Sunday, Jason started the day by pressure washing the A-frame wood that mom laid out the day before. The sky looked like it might prove to be a better day for drying the wood.
Dad installed the breakers in the electrical box.
I made over two lights. This one is going to live in the laundry room.
And this one (Jason almost always steps in when he sees me with a spray paint can in hand) will brighten the master closet. We decided to not hang them until more of the dirty work is finished. So you will have to wait to see the finished products until they are in place. I think they are both really cute!
Next, we worked on the front of the master bathtub. First we planed a few fence pickets. We only have a small stack left of Vince's fence.
I cut the boards to the correct lengths.
And then passed them to Jason through the window. He nailed them in place. And then I varnished them with a moisture/water resistant sealant. At this point, we think we will have a piece of marble made for the top with a lip that will cover a little of the top board. After dad made a list of which breaker was for what section of lights, I filled out the panel lid...which ended up not fitting. We will exchange it for the correct one and I will fill it out again. No big deal, it was kind of fun acting like an electrician.

Next, we stacked all the clean, dry A-frame wood on the porch to eventually be used in the game room.
Uncle Pete must be addicted to the Weld House too. He came back to install the silver pipe you can see. I don't know what it does, but I think it means real electricity is getting closer.
Dad hooked up the garage door openers.
Mom worked on sanding the medicine cabinet for the kids' bathroom. I really loved the chippy paint, but decided it was not wise to take a chance that the paint be lead based. It flaked off pretty easily and the color was a tad funky and am not sure it would work with our scheme. It may work out to leave a hint and seal it with a clear coat on the sides or something. Another one of those projects that just kind of evolves into the final product.
To end the day we finished installing the trim covers for the can lights in the game room. The last one ended up being a bit of a challenge. But after I snapped this picture (safety second), I held dad's ladder, and dad held Jason until it was snapped in place. Changing the light bulb is way easier than putting the trim on so hopefully in the future a ladder on the side will do.
Dad hooked them up to give us a peek at how the room will look! Looks like a party to me :)
