Our Precious Daisy

Right as we were finishing up on Monday night, Jason noticed that Daisy was limping. She is always getting stickers stuck in her paws, so she came over and when he lifted her leg to look and give her a hand, she let out a loud yelp-she was in pain! That is when Daddy noticed how swollen her leg was and that she was breathing funny. He immediately thought it was a snake bite. We took her to the emergency clinic, where they confirmed she was bitten by a venomous snake. (We assume a Copperhead since those are the kinds we have spotted before.) We had to leave her there overnight. She was such a brave and good patient. Jason picked her up after work and she seemed well on her way to recovery. Feeling good enough to hop off the side of the deck instead of taking the stairs :) She sure was glad to be home! The leg that is shaved in the picture is where they had an IV in her. Her right leg is the one that was bitten. This picture was taken when she came home last night, but you can still how it is swollen. We are so thankful she is ok. We love our Daisy Mae.
